We had a wonderful opportunity to connect with little ones at Providence Elementary School at their annual Providence STEAM Family Night on November 17th, from 6:00-7:30pm.
Specifically, at Providence, the lessons in the STEAM Lab center around three major ideas:
- How to be an Innovator (someone who comes up with new ideas and new ways to do things). And how we use our Innovator Skills (see attached skills).
- Following the Engineering Design Process – we know you are familiar with this.
- The idea that failure is an opportunity to learn, to collect data, and to figure out how to improve.
They wanted us to share with their students and families a glimpse of what is possible at the high school level in the area of STEAM education. When they said having girls on the team would be a wonderful addition to the event, Shreya was ready to go!
We had our Forkbot on hand to demonstrate various things a Robot can do – driving around, picking up blocks, stacking them, all in a fun package built with collaboration with Actobotics. Checkout the videos.
We enjoyed meeting all the kids and families! We appreciate everyone’s patience as they had to wait for their turn – they were great! – it was super fun watching their faces light up as they enjoyed driving the Robot. Here are some pictures and videos from the event. Enjoy!
